What is the difference between Mono and Tape yarn ?

In HDPE plastic mesh production, the choice between mono yarn and tape yarn directly affects the durability, cost, and intended use of the product. Today, we, the technical team of Iri Factory Vina, will share information with you about these two types of yarn.

First, we have Mono Yarn – the most widely produced yarn at Iri.

 Mono Yarn

Mono yarn is a single, round yarn, directly spun from HDPE plastic granules.

Advantages: High tensile strength, good load-bearing capacity, therefore less deformation, maintaining stable mesh shape. Good UV and weather resistance, making it suitable for outdoor use over long periods.

Disadvantages: Compared to tape yarn, Mono Yarn has a higher production cost. Weight may be heavier than tape with the same coverage.

Applications: Fence netting, agricultural netting, long-term protective netting.

Tape Yarn

Tape yarn is a flat fiber made from stretched HDPE plastic film.

Advantages: Tape yarn is lightweight and cost-effective. Furthermore, it has good surface coverage. The fibers have a soft structure, making them easy to process and package.

Disadvantages: Lower tensile strength than monofilament yarn, making it prone to tearing and breaking under heavy stress. Shorter lifespan in harsh outdoor conditions.

Applications: Packaging netting, short-term agricultural netting, temporary use netting.
